Dementia friendly holidays in 2019

Christmas and New Year celebrations are now over and maybe you're thinking you have nothing to look forward to over the coming months.  If this is the case then look no further than The Thomas Centre in Lincolnshire, England.  I wrote about this a couple of months ago but if you've just joined us or need a little reminder The Thomas Centre is a holiday destination set up to cater for children and families affected by autism.  Jan and Richard Creane who own the centre have decided that this year from 26th April to 3rd May their wonderful place will be available just for families affected by dementia which means that you can book a short break in one of their beautiful self catering cottages safe in the knowledge that those around you will have some idea of what you're going through.  If your loved one is having a bad day or you just can't find enough energy to move out of the Centre there will be others feeling exactly the same.  The indoor heated pool is available for sole use of your family, you just book a time slot and then relax in the knowledge that you only have to focus on your needs and don't have to worry about dodging noisy children who think it's great fun to splash everyone (unless they're your own of course which is a compltely different matter).  If you want to get out and about you're only 30 minutes from the east coast and if you get there and it's not working out you can just go back and relax in your very own space.  Jan and Richard can only hold this offer for a short time as they are already getting requests from the families the Centre was orginally designed for so if you think any of it sounds interesting you have until 31st January to book.  Added to this is the fact that there are only 8 cottages in total so you need to start thinking and planning now if you want to give it a try.

Regarding bookings, to recap the options that Jan and Richard are proposing will be either

• A long weekend, Friday 26^th April to Monday 29^th April or
• A mid-week, Monday 29^th April to Friday 3^rd May
• Prices range from £520 (2 bedroomed sleeping 4) to £880 (4 bedroomed, sleeping up to 8) per property.
• We do not make additional charges for any of the facilities on site: just bring your own food and drink!

• We will reserve the site purely for the benefit of dementia families and their carers.
